Parent helpers in the classroom are an essential part our successful prep program. Parent helpers assist in literacy, numeracy, cooking and PMP programs and are welcome in all classrooms at all times. Parent helpers are welcomed to assist in all grade levels in the school and regularly contribute to whole school activities such as sports carnivals and productions. Many parents contribute to the leadership and development of the school by joining school council teams and committees.
To assist in the classroom parents are required to attend the Parent Helpers Program. This program is conducted during Term 1 and is conducted by co-ordinators of the prep and junior area. The program consists of three two hour sessions conducted over three weeks and covers Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening strategies and Confidentiality in the classroom. Parent helpers begin assisting in preps classrooms in Term 2. This enables prep children to settle and develop some independence in Term 1.
All parent helpers must hold a current Working with Children Police Check. Details of how to initiate this check can be obtained at the school’s front office.
